The Islamic Association of Raleigh (IAR) functions as a pivotal Islamic center that encompasses a mosque, educational institution, and a hub for the Muslim community within North Carolina's Triangle region.

The facility comprises two buildings that house a primary musallah (prayer hall), a separate Sisters’ musallah, educational facilities, a multi-purpose hall, gymnasium, library, dedicated Sisters’ spaces, children's recreational areas, and the Al-Maidah Kitchen and Cafe.

For the convenience of attendees, Jummah (Friday) prayers are organized into three shifts, with the late timing of the third session tailored to accommodate Muslim students who wish to participate after regular school hours.

Eid prayers are typically conducted at the NC State Fairgrounds to cater to the large turnout expected from the community.

IAR offers three primary educational services: Al-Furqan Sunday School for Muslim children, Al-Iman – a full-time Islamic school compliant with North Carolina education standards, and An-Noor Quran Academy – a comprehensive program focusing on Quran memorization alongside conventional academic curriculum.

The center hosts various routine youth activities and provides a diverse range of daily and weekly classes targeted at adult members.

Within its social services portfolio, IAR administers zakaat and sadaqa (alms and charity) programs along with offering assistance to refugees.

Moreover, IAR organizes annual Hajj group services under the leadership of qualified Hajj specialists. The center also manages washing, funeral arrangements, and burial services in a secluded Muslim cemetery located in Wendell.

Community engagement is further exemplified through regular events such as annual picnics and Health Fairs that offer complimentary medical services and resources for public benefit.

Operational throughout the day, Al-Maidah Kitchen and Cafe serves lunch and dinner while also extending its services to cater events.
